This week, CHML’s Scott Thompson wanted to know what the heck I was doing in Halifax last week. I explain that I was there on the set of the CBC teacher comedy Mr. D. Scott wanted to know if Gerry Dee’s hair was really that blond. This is why Scott gets the medium sized bucks.
We get talking about how they improvise on the set of that series and I somehow segue to a story about Burt Reynolds. Seriously.

Gord Martineau. Ever young

Scott then baits me to once again mock the Gemini Awards and I quickly take the bait. The Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television have combined the Geminis and the Genies, which is way more important than that recent Quebec election. Seriously, if these two solitudes can come together, well, the universe is unfolding as it should.
Scott also asks about the 40th anniversary of Toronto’s City-TV and wonders if it wasn’t a better station back in the days when Moses was making it all up as he went along. Gord Martineau also celebrates an anniversary–35 years in the City News anchor chair. The man never ages, which is starting to get a little creepy.
We talk about how the new corporate owners, Bell/CTV, have scrubbed all the hippie out of City’s once funky old HQ’s, 299 Queen Street West. You can listen in here.
