muppet-show-waldorf-stadler-800pxMy buddy Bob Cowan had me on CHCH Morning Live Monday to chat up the 2015-16 season. That was the idea, anyway, but we spent a lot of time trashing ABC’s revival of The Muppets. So be warned–we come off like those two old coots who used to heckle The Muppet Show from the balcony–Stadler and Waldorf.

Bob is generally creeped out by the Muppets. I just think the new show takes a good idea–basically The Larry Sandler Show–and tries to marry it with the wrong cast. Do you really want to know Kermit has split with Miss Piggy and is now shacked up with a new pig? You’d almost think Disney was trying to move a warehouse full of old Fozzie dolls.

Speaking of Disney, I also sneak in a plug for the upcoming PBS American Masters salute to master showman Walt Disney. That should be a great documentary, addressing many myths and legends about the man behind the mouse. CH, however, pulled clips from a past Masters‘ salute to Jimi Hendrix. It’s a big leap from Disneyland to Electric Ladyland, as if Walt was asking, “Are you experienced? Then come get high on It’s a Small World.” Come to think of it, not a bad idea.

We also preview Supergirl, Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris, Heroes Reborn, The Grinder and Grandfathered.

We finish up saying what a fine show Nashville is, and, by gosh, it happens to be on CHCH. Follow this link to the full CHCH review.
