This is harvest time for late night comedians. Look at the production values that go into this jab at Trump broadcast months ago on Jimmy Kimmel Live. The casting! (The stars of the Broadway smash The Producers, Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane, plus Cloris Leachman for a cameo.) The sets! The extras! Kimmel, who will be at Just for Laughs in Montreal this week, always puts so much polish into these parodies.
They should open with this as part of Tuesday night’s coverage of the Democrats National Convention — except all this Trump bashing just seems to propel the Republican higher in the standings. Better maybe to show this scathingly brilliant take down of Trump by Bill Maher (below). That ’50s Guy/’60s Guy formula — sheer genius.
