Toronto player Kat Yee gets the boot on Big Brother Canada

Big Brother Canada got off to a successful start this past week thanks to Big Mother. Shaw wisely chose to simultaneously launch their new homegrown reality series Wednesday night on the “mother” network, Global (straight out of their 2 million+ Survivor simulcast), as well as on its regular specialty home, Slice. BBC drew 1,032,000 on Global Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET opposite a Leafs/Habs game on TSN (1,533,000), the second hour of CTV’s American Idol (which averaged 1,439,000 over its two hours), Modern Family on City (652,000) and Arctic Air on CBC (528,000).
BBC drew an additional 274,000 viewers on its regular home at 9 p.m. on Slice.
For Thursday’s inaugural elimination episode, the series shifted to Slice-only, where it drew 608,000 viewers if you add together the two airings on the specialty channel that night (which you shouldn’t). Again, the mother network gave Big Brother a boost. A large, lower third bug airing over Global’s Thursday night simulcast of The Office urged viewers to change the channel to Slice!
