Thank You, Mr. President

What if Barack Obama could knock on the door of former West Wing president Josiah Bartlet for a little electioneering advice? Could he maybe help him to see that “elitist” tag McCain has thrust on the younger senator is both misleading and actually a compliment?

Maureen Dowd–who used to date Sorkin (nice to see she still has him in her speed dial)–has a vintage bit of Sorkin sermonizing today in the New York Times. Here’s how it starts:

OBAMA I didn’t expect you to answer the door yourself.
BARTLET I didn’t expect you to be getting beat by John McCain and a Lancôme rep who thinks “The Flintstones” was based on a true story, so let’s call it even.
