Today on News Talk Radio CHML, Scott Thompson wanted to get my take on last night’s Osbournes Reloaded fiasco, the story TVFMF broke about Barack Obama cleaning house at CBC and thoughts on our version of The Osbournes Reloaded, The Junos. You can listen in here.
Beyond that, a long overdue honour was bestowed today on a beloved Canadian TV institution: SCTV. Yes, SCTV was on today’s list of 
Peabody Award winners (read the entire 2008 winners list here). Guy Caballero would be popping out of his wheelchair today to…wait a minute, that is SCTV as in Sichuan Television, the Chengdu-based service that scooped the world on its earthquake coverage. Never mind.
Other actual winners of the distinguished broadcast awards include ABC’s Lost, AMC’s Breaking Bad and HBO’s John Adams miniseries. Saturday Night Live was singled out for a great year of political satire. Even the Onion News Network picked up a Peabody, which sounds like an April Fools joke or something you’d only read on the Onion web site, but it’s true.
TUESDAY NIGHT NUMBERS: CBC’s Wild Roses rode off into the sunset with 413,000 viewers. Not all that stellar for a season finale, especially when broken down to the 25-54 demo, where 119,000 heads were counted. CBC still hasn’t officially weighed in on the fate of this Calgary-based rookie.
CTV’s American Idol was the big draw last night, scoring 2,038,000 on BBM NMR’s “commercial” overnight estimate tally. Law & Order SVU drew 1,280,000.
Global’s NCIS did its usual strong 1,591,000. 90210 had 494,000 and Project Runway Canada did 423,000.
In the States last night, that initial (and hopefully one and only) Osbournes Reloaded special dropped most of its American Idol lead in, drawing 9.33 million viewers. ABC’s mid-season makeover Cupid was a misfire, too, with 7.56 Americans tuning in according to overnight estimates.
