A still bearded Conan O’Brien seems to be playing down expectations as he finally announces the name of his new late night talk show. Conan–“simple, pure, like the man himself”–will premiere Nov. 8 at 11 p.m. on TBS and way the hell in the middle of the night or something on CTV.
The new title fits. As comedian (and former O’Brien staffer) Louie C.K. said a press tour or two ago, Conan really didn’t ever need The Tonight Show. Conan already had his own brand–Conan.
O’Brien was also forced to go with the one word moniker after learning that the catchier title George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight was already taken.
