The Emmy nominations are out and Netflix has everybody’s attention. The U.S. based content platform grabbed nine nominations this morning in Los Angeles for House of Cards, their spicy little drama starring Kevin Spacey (also nominated for Best Lead Actor). They also got some Emmy love for two other shows, including a Comedy nomination for Arrested Development’s Jason Bateman.
I’ll be on CBC Radio One stations this afternoon yakking about the Netflix factor and other Emmy surprises. The schedule (recording times, not necessarily regional air times): Halifax at 3:20 p.m., Cape Breton at 3:40, Windsor at 4:40 and Toronto’s Here & Now with Mary Ito at 4:50 p.m.
The Onion already tweeted a funny line about Netflix’s nods, congratulating them on their “10 nominations for Season 4 of Wings.”
Too bad, however, Tatiana Maslany did not pick up an Emmy nomination for her outstanding work this season on Orphan Black (Space and SyFy). She’s already won one U.S. critics’ award and is among the nominees for Best Actress in a Drama in the upcoming Television Critics Association awards early next month.
