Just over two years ago, I met Lee Thompson Young on the set of Rizzoli & Isles. It was reported Monday that the 29-year-old actor has taken his own life.
Just as when Cory Monteith was found dead earlier this year, the news seems unbelievable. Why would this young man, working on a hit TV show, take his own life?

The above video was shot on a TCA set visit in July of 2011. It was a fun day on the set and much of this clip is a bunch of wiseguy critics messing about. Most times on these set visits the studios shut down the cameras, but these folks invited us to just let ‘er rip.
The day wasn’t all about the gags. I did speak with Young about his three years spent shooting the Disney Channel series The Amazing Jet Jackson in Toronto. He said he loved working the city and had a blast making that show.
This video features just a brief shot of Young. His character sat opposite Angie Harmon’s character’s desk. Harmon tells a story on herself, but it is really Young’s joke that she tells.
He seemed very open and friendly on that day, happy to let Harmon steal the spotlight. Condolences to his family, friends and cast mates.
