Here’s another reason to curse that same-result federal election: last Monday’s vote came the week after the 15th season return of CBC’s Murdoch Mysteries. With the election falling last Monday, it delayed the second half of the two-part premiere 14 days until tonight.

Fans who can think two weeks back will recall that all hell was breaking loose in part one. Det. William Murdoch (Yannick Bisson) was in Montreal trying to rescue his surprise son and Anne Fulford. Constable Crabtree (Jonny Harris) was getting shanghied into a shotgun wedding. Julia Ogden (Helene Joy) was pioneering some life-saving brain surgery. And Inspector Brackenreid (Thomas Craig) was knocking in the heads of other cops in trying to figure out what happened to his son Bobby.

Tonight, Murdoch must risk a deal with a Black Hand henchman in order to save his former lover and their son.

Ye gads! For more on tonight’s episode, as well as the true story of the real Inspector Brackenreid who really did serve and protect in Toronto, listen to Thomas Craig tell all by following the link above to brioux.tv: the podcast.
