Tuesday’s semi final 4 Nations Face-off game between Canada and Finland drew an overnight, estimated audience of 2,202,000 on Sportsnet National.
Canada won that game in a bit of a nail-biter at the end by a score of 5-3 to advance to tonight’s final against the United States. This audience for this game will easily double the Canada-Finland tilt.
Not like this game needs more hype, or the Canadian team needs more motivation, but fearless leader 47 weighed in with a statement sure to be posted on the wall of the Canadian dressing room today:
“I’ll be calling our GREAT American hockey team this morning,” he typed, “to spur them on to victory tonight against Canada, which with FAR LOWER TAKES AND MUCH STRONGER SECURITY, will someday, maybe soon, will be our cherished, and very important, fifty-first state.”
He went on to needle his favourite target, “Governor Trudeau” before pulling wings off a few flies and having his lid starched. Look for him to deport the USA team if they lose.
The game is in Boston at the TD Garden, where both anthems will again be played. Fans pay for their tickets, and can cheer, boo, do what they like. It should be a very exciting game between two well matched opponents. As a real leader would say, may the best team win.
