If you’re old enough to remember what “Marcia, Marcia, Marcia” was all about, you may be ready to return to the house used in all the exterior shots of The Brady Bunch (1969 – ’74).
HGTV bought the actual North Hollywood side-split in 2018 for $3.5 million. They’ve gutted the place and made it look on the inside the way it did on Hollywood soundstages during production of the sitcom’s 117 episodes. That’s the idea behind A Very Brady Renovation, premiering this September on HGTV.
All six original child star cast members — Barry Williams, Maureen McCormick, Christopher Knight, Eve Plumb, Mike Lookinland and Susan Olsen – are taking part in the four episode series. The renovation is being supervised by Canadian “Property Brothers” handymen Drew and Jonathan Scott.
Each Brady was tasked with renovating one room in the house. Eve Plumb, who played middle sister Jan, told NBC’s Today Show recently that the HGTV team is “trying to make it look exactly like the set, down to the wallpaper. And they have us staining cabinets and hammering nails.”
“A Very Brady Contest” has also been launched. One lucky winner will get a chance to “live like a Brady” for a six-night stay in the house from Dec. 9 to 15 in LA. Between now and September, fans must submit a :30 to :90 second video expressing why the deserve to be a pseudo Brady sibling. The grand prize includes roundtrip airfare for six guests and $25,000 in Brady bills.
Canadians, unfortunately, are not eligible. “Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!!!”
