With a week to go before Christmas, the traditional broadcast ratings took their annual dip. Out of the mix for December 13-19 were power imports such as 9-1-1, CSI: Vegas and The Good Doctor. Instead, nine newscasts and two news magazines, 60 Minutes on Global (711,000 viewers) and W5 on CTV (600,000) cracked the Numeris Top-30.

Once again, the most-watched series in Canada was seen only in the province of Quebec: averaged over four nights, District 31 drew 1,701,000 SRC viewers.

In fourth place nationally, if you factor in District 31, was the finale of the 41st edition of Survivor. A Total of 1,558,000 viewers in English Canada cheered on the reality show’s first Canadian winner. The three-hour season-ender was tops in Toronto, drawing 400,000 Live+7 viewers.

Here’s how the English Canada Top-10 ranked nationally for the week in terms of average-minute-audience according to Numeris:

  1. CTV Evening News (CTV) MTWTF 1,606,000
  2. FBI (Global) Tues 1,579,000
  3. Survivor (Global) Wed 1,548,000
  4. FBI: Most Wanted (Global) Tues 1,482,000
  5. Station 19 (CTV) Thurs 1,468,000
  6. Grey’s Anatomy (CTV) Thurs 1,462,000
  7. CTV Evening News Weekend (CTV) Sat 1,306,000

  9. Big Sky (CTV) Thurs 986,000
  10. CTV National News (CTV) MTWTFSS 968,000

Just missing the Top-10 at No. 11 was Saturday Night Live, with a total audience of 915,000 on Global. Paul Rudd hosted a stripped down, limited cast and crew version due to the Omicron variant outbreak. The top specialty entry for the week was The Curse of Oak Island on History, No. 13 with 848,000 Total viewers.

Tops in sports nationally was an NFL Sunday late afternoon game at No. 12 overall with 866,000 CTV viewers. The 1 p.m. game Sunday on CTV drew 816,000 for 14th place.
