The CBC Monday released the dates of their winter 2024 schedule for new and returning series. There was no waiting around for writers and actors strikes to be settled for these homegrown series to premiere. All are set to air on the home network and will also be streaming on CBC Gem. Among their new Canadian originals:

One More Time, a 13-episode comedy series starring stand-up comedian D.J. Demers as a hard-of-hearing manager of a second-hand sporting good store. Premieres Tuesday, January 9. Geri Hall (22 Minutes; Middle Raged) is among the ensemble.

Wild Cards, a stylish new cop/caper series set in Vancouver and starring Giacomo Gianniotti (Grey’s Anatomy) and Vanessa Morgan (Riverdale) and featuring Jason Priestley as a dad behind bars. It premieres Wednesday, January 10. Opens the same night in the States on The CW.

Ghosting with Luke Hutchie and Matthew Finlan — actors best known for their work on horror series — is an eight-episode factual series. Here, the two men act as ghostbusters visiting a series of haunted houses. Starts Friday, January 26.

For the Culture with Amanda Parris (January 30) is a new documentary series featuring the writer, executive producer and host in provocative conversations that centre on Blackness and Black folks.

Allegiance (February 7) is a cop show starring Surpinder Wraich (Sort Of) as a young woman caught between her allegiance to her flag, to her badge and to her family. Co-stars friend of brioux.tv the podcast Enrico Colantoni (Flashpoint) as well as Stephen Lobo (Continuum), Adolyn H. Dar (Superman & Lois), Brian Markinson (A Million Little Things), and David Cubitt (Virgin River).

The Great Canadian Pottery Throw Down (February 8). Based on a British format, this series sees ten talented Canadian potters competing to be crowned Canada’s Top Potter. Noted Canadian pot head Seth Rogen is both a judge and a producer. .Jennifer Robertson (Schitt’s Creek) hosts.

Returning CBC shows include Murdoch Mysteries (season 17 continues January 1); Dragon’s Den (Jan. 4); The Nature of Things (Jan. 4); This Hour Has 22 Minutes (Jan. 9); Son of a Critch (Jan. 9); Run the Burbs (Jan. 9), Bollywed (Jan. 14) and Push (Jan. 14).
