The This Hour Has 22 Minutes election special is a lot like the Federal election itself. There’s the advance poll — watch the special now on CBC Gem (where it started streaming on Thursday) — or wait for the broadcast premiere date — Saturday, April 26. Look for it right after Game Four in the Toronto Maple Leafs/Ottawa Senators tilt in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs. Translation: unless there is overtime, the special should begin around 9:30 pm ET/6:30 pm PT.

Either way, here is what you’ll see: Prime Minister Mark Carney as Mark Carney, rolling up rims with Critch at Timmys. Then there is Mark McKinney from Kids in the Hall, back for a third time in a row on 22 Minutes as Mark Carney. Talk about a double-double.

The hour-long special also features at least one other former Prime Minister, Jean Chrétien, NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh, Bloc Québécois candidate Rose Lessard, and Green Party Co-Leaders Elizabeth May and Jonathan Pedneault.

Axed from the lineup is Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre. His old boss Stephen Harper is also AWOL. A shame, because both men are hilarious!

Did 22 Minutes do their usual ambush at the Federal Leaders Debate? Better them than Rebel News. Look also for Glass Tiger’s Alan Frew performing “Canada’s Song,” a stirring tribute to our home and sovereign land.

Joining Critch on the special are 22 Minutes sketch pals Aba Amuquandoh, Stacey McGunnigle, Trent McClellan and Chris Wilson.
