Twelve years after their storyline wrapped on NCIS, Cote de Pablo and Michael Weatherly have reunited as their crowd-pleasing characters on NCIS: Tony & Ziva. As executive producers of this series, the two actors had a say as to where this series would be shot, and they picked Europe — smart move if you’re going to be spending six months on the job.

Much of their six month shoot took place in Budapest, a major European production centre which has hosted big shows such as The Borgias in the past. Weatherly and de Pablo say they enjoyed exploring the city.

The streaming series begins with plenty of action scenes and de Pablo in particular says she had to train to get into full fighting mode. This came in handy when two stunt doubles went down with injuries and the actress, born in Chille, had to step in and finish a few scenes.

As for Weatherly, he wanted me to know that, yes, he refused a double for all his love scenes — a tip he once got from Robert Wagner. The now 95-year-old Hollywood legend played Weatherly’s father every now and then on NCIS. Weatherly also reveals that another veteran star, James Garner, was set to play Mark Harmon’s dad on the long-running CBS “mother ship” series. Unfortunately, delining health took away that opportunity.
