Shocking revelation time: I was once a contestant on Big Brother Canada. Granted, it was a PR stunt where members of the press were gathered in the Big Brother house, so not for days and days although it seemed like it for the seven-and-a-half hours it took to kick me out.
One of the other participants was Rick Campanelli, a former MuchMusic VJ/personality. He has a new book out where he reveals his big shocking revelation. I thought it might have something to do with his favourite snack which I saw him put together from the Big Brother fridge inside the Big Brother house – wrapping a cheese slice around a pickle.
If you think that was it, don’t bet on it.
Since that adventure Big Brother Canada has moved. Global canceled it after a dozen seasons or so and Bell/CTV is the new neighbourhood. CTV and Crave announced Tuesday that nationwide casting is now underway for an all-new season of the reality series.
Here is how to be part of it all: “Canadians ready to put their strategy and social gameplay to the test can apply now at BigBrotherCanadaCasting.ca.”
Hopeful houseguests will have to submit a short audition video to ca showcasing their “personality, background, and why you have what it takes to win.” Applicants must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and at least 19 years of age.

You’ll also have to travel to Montreal where the action will take place in a brand new Big Brother House. Hopefully, in keeping with the times, it will be packed with Canadian-made furniture and, in the fridge, Canadian pickles.
Crave is now home to all the old BBC episodes that aired on Global. The new season will air in the summer of 2027 on both CTV and Crave. There is also a new host for the series: Andrea Bain, co-host of The Social.
Big Brother originally began in The Netherlands 27 years ago. There are Big Brother Houses in the UK, Australia, Germany and Brazil; long-running versions airing consistently in the US and Italy since 2000; seven regional versions each year in India; and a new adaptation in Uruguay.
As Groucho once said, “You go Uruguay and I’ll go mine.”
