Here, for CTV News Channel, is my quick take on Sunday night’s historic Emmy sweep by the little Canadian comedy that could, Schitt’s Creek. The beard, of course, is my tribute to David Letterman, who stepped out of a limo in a field to share a delightful moment of comic madness to the proceedings.

It seems impossible that six seasons have passed and we’re down to the final episode of Schitt’s Creek. Loyal fans could never get enough Schitt’s and giggles. The acclaimed comedy opened big in January of 2015, with back-to-back episodes watched by close to 1.4 million Canadian viewers. The weekly tally always swelled as the Live+7

Like the waters in and around lakes and rivers in Ontario, the Creek keeps rising. The past year especially, the accolades for the CBC comedy Schitt’s Creek keep pouring in. Especially from the United States, where the series broke through with four Emmy Award nominations in 2019, including Outstanding Comedy Series and Lead Actor nods
