In Part II of this two-part conversation, retired Globe and Mail TV columnist John Doyle returns to talk a little bit more about soccer but mostly about our shared fascination with television.
The two of us tackle several of today’s biggest TV challenges. For example: are late night talk shows going the way of the western? Does Crave’s Heated Rivalry live up to the hype? Is funding at a crossroads in Canada?
While the World Cup rages on (albeit without Canada, which lost Saturday to Morocco) continue reading Doyle’s expert take on the beautiful game in the pages of The Toronto Star. In this podcast episode, he explains FIFA and puts that governing body in historical context, all in under five minutes.

Doyle also provides an update on his play “Shelter” which is about Irish refugees in Canada in the 1840s. Last year it had a reading in New York and next year it will be performed in Toronto before touring in other cities.
