The cast of Kim’s Convenience

Want to sit in on a virtual table read? The casts of Kim’s Convenience and Fresh Off the Boat are uniting Saturday for live, online readings of their respective sitcoms.

The event will feature cast members doing readings of their respective sitcom’s pilot episodes. Taking part from Kim’s Convenience will be Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, Jean Yoon, Simu Liu, Andrea Bang, Andrew Phung and Nicole Power. The main cast members from Fresh Off the Boat — Randall Park, Constance Wu, Hudson Yang, Forrest Wheeler and Ian Chen — will read their show’s script.

It’s all in support of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. The table readings are free to all, but viewers who donate at least $10 dollars to the fundraising campaign can also participate in a Q&A with cast members after the readings.

It all begins this Saturday at 6 p.m. PT and 9 p.m. ET. Monies raised will go towards Asian non-profit arts organizations in the U.S. and Canada. Toronto’s Reel Asian International Film Festival and the Unsung Voices production workshop will both benefit from the fundraiser.

You can stream the show on Seed & Spark’s Facebook and YouTube channels. The recorded table read session will remain up at those sites for two weeks after the live performance.

CBC, which hosts a virtual upfront press presentation today, has already renewed Kim’s Convenience for fifth and sixth seasons. Want more time with Andrew Phung, Kim’s loveable roomie Kimchee? Thrilled to announce he’ll be the next guest on brioux.tv: the podcast! The Calgary-born comedian will fill us in on What The Phung a week from Monday.
