I welcomed the opportunity to stand up for Jimmy Kimmel Thursday morning on CTV News Channel. Trump’s lazy, day after spin that Kimmel was fired for lack of talent is MAGA nonsense.
This also has zero to do with comments about Charlie Kirk. This all about Kimmel piercing orange baby skin by pointing out that the president of the United States is acting like a petulant four year old. This is all about shutting down all opposition; through the courts, through the FCC, through all manner of intimidation.
What happens next? Trump won’t rest until the other “losers” on his list — such as Jon Stewart, Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers — are silenced next. How will Saturday Night Live tiptoe around this when their 51st season premieres Oct 4 on NBC and Global? We still have South Park, but for how long?
Remember, when the Smothers Brothers made too many cracks about the war in Vietnam and were fired by CBS in 1969 — months after Nixon was inaugurated — they were replaced by Hee Haw.
CTV’s Marcia MacMillan Featured, asks an important question at the end of our segment: Where are we without these comedic voices in these dark times?

Jimmy Kimmel was an active participant in cancel culture, this makes him in the game. He cheered when Tucker Carlson lost his job. Kimmel so full of hate he refused to apologize and instead wanted to double down. When “66 of the roughly 200 affiliate stations had said they would” drop him, that’s when Iger and Walden pulled the plug. He was an unchecked bully and now that he got punched in the nose, he slithered off. He’s the worst and his tears are delicious.
next up: Seth Myers!
Oh no what is going to happen to Guillermo now?
