BEVERLY HILLS, CA–Smart dude that Robert Greenblatt. The new NBC entertainment chairman smartly reduced expectations with a low-key approach at Monday’s TCA exec session. The former Showtime programmer started out emphasizing the positives: The Voice is the No. 1 show this spring and summer. SNL had a big rebound season both creatively and in ratings. Leno is still kicking Dave’s ass.
Prime time? We’re No. 1 in “upscale” viewers he said in a spin that sure to be embraced at the next CBC upfront.
New for fall on NBC and being paneled at TCA today are The Playboy Club, Free Agents (with Hank Azaria), new comedy Whitney, Will Arnett’s Up All Night, fairy tale-inspired Grimm, a reboot of the Brit hit Prime Suspect and reality show/X Factor diluter The Sing Off.
