Seems Melissa Gilbert bonked her noggin on Monday night’s Dancing with the Stars. The former Little House on the Prairie moppet, now a sizzling 47, got thrashed around by dance partner Maksim Chemerkovskiy and had to get checked out at a hospital. The former Scree Actors Guild president is expected to remain in the competition.
I’ve been recapping DWTS after each show this season for TheStar.com. Check out last night’s recap here.
Small wonder Gilbert and a few others, especially Extra host Maria Menounos, have been getting banged up on the series this year. The level of competition has been pretty impressive, with no stunt casting coasters as in some other years.
Now in its 14th edition, the dance series remains very popular–so much so that it is splitting the CTV/CTV Two audience Monday nights. CTV bumped DWTS over to Two in favour of newer reality series The Voice but the older series is pulling around the same 1.3 million viewers a week in the overnights as the singing talent showcase.
I find the Tuesday results show 59 minutes of filler. Tonight at 9, KISS returns from Monday’s show to remind us it is “Rock Week.” Poor Gladys Knight was made to tango to Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody, which was about as stupid as it sounds. Look for either Knight or unknown singer Gavin DeGraw to get the heave at the 9:59 mark.
In one of those only-on-television footnotes, one of the DWTS judges can also be seen tonight on the PBS special The Titanic with Len Goodman (8 p.m. ET). Head Judge Goodman was first mate on the doomed ocean liner. No he once worked as a welder for Harland & Wolff, the company that built the luxury liner in Belfast, Northern Ireland, 100 years ago.
There are still plenty of Titanic specials leading up to Thursday’s 100th anniversary of the great ship sinking. Find a list here and check out the Goodman PBS teaser below.
