What, already? Yes, The Rick Mercer Report signs off for another season Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET on CBC. The 12th season brought the usual million-viewers a week and Mercer has already inked a deal for at least two more seasons.
Rick ends 2014-15 in the usual manner by visiting the top schools participating in the Spread the Net Student Challenge, a charity that helps raise funds to buy malaria-preventing bed nets in Africa. That’s him above with the kids from Kew Beach Public School in Toronto. The other schools were John .F Ross Collegiate and Vocational Institute, Guelph and Algonquin College, Ottawa.
I spoke with Rick a few weeks ago for a March cover story appearing in FYI: Forever Young Information. It’s billed as “Canada’s Adult Lifestyle” magazine. That used to mean seniors but now it apparently means cool people like Rick, Jennifer Aniston, Jon Hamm and other forty-somethings in their prime.
Mercer was his usual, candid, lively, insightful self, always a great interview. You can read the full story here.
