The Winnipeg Jets come-from-behind overtime victory over the St. Louis Blues Sunday night drew a combined 2.2 mllion overnight, estimated broadcast and specialty viewers.

The NHL’s regular-season leaders scored with 1.6 seconds left in regulation to tie the game and send it to overtime. The four-hour-plus, double overtime game was watched by an average minute audience of 1,227,000 on Sportsnet National and another 957,000 viewers on the Total CBC network.

Sunday was not an especially competitive night. CTV’s biggest import draw, Tracker, hunted down 670,000 in overnight estimates. The rookie retread Suits LA was a poor fit at 119,000. Global drew an estimated 377,000 with The Equalizer, just canceled in the US. Citytv’s simulcast of American Idol drew 184,000. (Scripted dramas will gain a significant boost in viewers once Live+7 and other data factor into totals.)

TSN drove ratings with their coverage of the Miami Grand Prix. Estimated audence: 412,000.

On Monday, May 5, The Toronto Maple Leafs opened the Round 2 Stanley Cup series with a win at home over the defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers. An overnight, estimated 2,869,000 was the combined take on Sportsnet National (1,567,000) and CBC (1,302,000).

Meanwhile it was crickets over on the private networks. Global had the biggest import tally with an overnight, estimated 437,000 watching NCIS. Nothing else in prime time on CTV, Global or City cracked the 275,000 mark.
