This week, CHML`s Scott Thompson kicked things off with thoughts on James Gandolfini. The Sopranos‘ star died suddenly last week in Rome at 51. His funeral was Thursday, and creator David Chase, Edie Falco, Michael Imperiolli and many other cast mates attended the service.
We speculate if a Sopranos‘ prequel might, or should, ever emerge. Chase has mused he might someday tell the story of Tony’s father in a movie.
We talk also of Jerry Seinfeld and David Letterman cruising around in a Volvo station wagon in this week’s on-line edition of Comedians in Cars Going for Coffee.
I give my reasons for why I think last Sunday’s sixth season Mad Men finale was pretty dern terrific. Scott wonders if the series could survive if next year’s final episodes were extended and the storytelling lasted into the ’70s. I’d watch more, but I applaud Matthew Weiner’s decision to come to a full stop at the end of that decade.
Now, a prequel following Roger Sterling drinking and smoking through the ’50s–sign me up.
We also talk about Under The Dome and Stephen King and what a cool dude he turned out to be on my recent trip to the set in North Carolina. Scott also asks about the Stanley Cup playoffs and that 3.4 million final game number. How many viewers would The Leafs draw in a final? I give Scott my educated guess.
