BEVERLY HILLS, Calif.–Back when I was at the Toronto Sun, I wrote a column praising Whose Line is it Anyway? as a very funny show the whole family could enjoy. That certainly was the case at my house.
To my surprise, the day the story appeared, Colin Mochrie emailed out of the blue to thank me for the article.
I’ve run into Mochrie, who lives in Toronto with his comedienne wife, Deb McGrath, several times since, so it was great to see him Wednesday night at CBS’s TCA stars party at press tour.
He was sitting in a Canadian corner of the event, on a large white couch with his buddy and long time co-star Ryan Styles–who grew up in Vancouver–and Megan Follows, who plays a conniving queen in The CW’s Reign.
Reign, by the way, shoots in Toronto. Shouldn’t a series called Reign shoot in Vancouver? But I digress.(Besides, it’s been rainier this summer in Toronto than Vancouver.)
Mochrie and Styles were at the TCA bash to promote the re-birth of Whose Line, just renewed for a second season in the middle of a successful summer run on The CW.
The improve comedy series began 25 years ago as a radio show in The U.K. A British TV series soon followed, and the format—with some of the same theatre sports players—migrated to America in 1998.
