Idiocracy is the funniest film most people have never seen. If you get a chance, find the feature–which came and went in 2006–and screen it. It stars Luke Wilson and Maya Rudolph and is to laff. If you can’t find it, do the next best thing and watch the premiere of Silicon Valley Sunday night at 10 p.m. E.T. on HBO Canada.
Both the movie and the new series hail from King of the Hill creator Mike Judge. The Texan has teamed with Alec Berg (Curb Your Enthusiasm) in bringing this goof on the world of high tech start-ups to life.
Judge and Berg were both at the most recent Television Critics Association press tour in Pasadena earlier this year. Follow this link to read more about this new eight-part comedy. It stars Thomas Middleditch (The Office) as a computer programmer with a big idea living at a hacker hostel.
For those wondering if there are going to be any more adventures of Judge’s animated daffy duo, Beavis & Butt-Head, the news isn’t great. Judge says plans to do more episodes are “caught up in some kind of changeover of the top brass of MTV.” He says he’s trying to sell more B&B to another network. “I still like it,” he offered as some sort of reassurance.
HBO and HBO Canada also have a couple of returning shows Sunday night. There’s this little show called Game of Thrones, starting a fourth season at 9 p.m. Then stay tuned for Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Veep, back for a third season at 10:30 p.m.
