UPDATED WITH MONDAY NIGHT NUMBERS: What is the bigger draw so far this month of June in Canada: hockey or basketball? It’s not even close.
Monday’s fourth game of the Stanley Cup finals between the Boston Bruins and the St. Louis Blues drew an overnight, estimated, average minute audience of 1,198,000 viewers on CBC plus an additional 644,000 on Sportsnet National as well as an additional 79,000 on Sportsnet One+ for a grand total of 1,921,000 viewers.
That was a step up from the estimated 1,685,000 who watched Saturday’s third game between the Bruins and the Blues on CBC and Sportsnet. That same night in sports, a pre-season tilt between the Hamilton Ti-Cats and the Ottawa Redblacks drew 203,000 on TSN while the Jays batted 226,000 earlier that day v. Colorado on Sportsnet One+.
On Sunday, the second game in the NBA finals between the Toronto Raptors and the Golden State Warriors was witnessed by an estimated 3,191,000 B-Ball fans. A Blue Jays-Colorado game the same day saw 312,000 viewers tune in.
