Kudos to Jimmy Fallon for allowing this savaging to be posted up on line but, Holy Cow, not since Martin Short deconstructed Canadian celebrity interviewer Brian Linehan on SCTV has such a showbiz career thumping been so transparent on television. Nearly ten minutes of confrontational mayhem, straight from the couch.
Steve-Martin-Short told many of the exact same jokes last year when they made a similar appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Kimmel — wisely– basked in the shellacking from these two comedy icons, which allowed his audience to laugh, too (See that clip here). Fallon, however, looked either guilty or uncomfortable, resulting in some gasps along with the laughs from his studio audience.
Likely enjoying it all more than anybody else watching at home: David Letterman.
