Rumoured for weeks, the axe fell Wednesday at Canwest Global Communications. And it fell hard and sharp. It was announced that 560 jobs would be eliminated in the media company’s newspaper and broadcasting businesses. This after an estimated 200 had already been lost in the last few years.
